In an exciting and innovative subsidiary of Kidsfirst Physio, we offer pool physiotherapy at Hyde Creek Recreation Centre in Port Coquitlam.
While the positive impact of physical exercise in the buoyancy and resistance of water is well documented, we have added an extra plus to our program.
Using therapy plans developed for each child individually, Brenda Horton, B.S.R. - P.T. (Reg), MCPA, works directly with children in the water, with the help of carefully trained youth assistants who aid her in her work, presenting games and exercise activities (which is also referred to as hydrotherapy or physiotherapy in the pool) to facilitate each child's therapy program.
The benefits of this combination of Brenda's hands-on expertise, and the interaction with youth assisting her, to those involved in our pool program are unmistakable. The unique socialization atmosphere provided develops a bond that makes the "therapy" even more fun, appealing, and valuable to the children.
